NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In a year when both the Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators had disappointing seasons, Nashville SC has given people a team to root for.
The Boys in Gold are unbeaten in a club-record 13 straight matches and have already surpassed their point total from last season. They'll face they're toughest test when they host Philadelphia Union at Geodis Park on Saturday.
Nashville sits in third place — just two points behind Philadelphia for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. A win would propel Nashville to first place.
"Philly is a good team," head coach BJ Callaghan said. "They're going to challenge us in a lot of ways both with and without the ball. But for us, I think it's just more about continuing to build and stack performances that we can play the that way we want to play."
The most important player in the match is Nashville's Sam Surridge. Surridge has an MLS-leading 16 goals and is on pace to capture The Golden Boot given to the league's top goal-scorer.
"We know there will be a lot of growing and learning from this game that we'll be able take further with us in the season," Callaghan added. "For us, I think it's about us being excited to come home and have the home crowd behind us."
The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Geodis Park.
