NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The stage is set for one of the biggest Fourth of July spectacles in the country.

Before the festivities can start, city leaders and local organizations are doing their final checks to keep event-goers safe.

More than 250,000 people are expected on Broadway for the Fourth of July fireworks show.

Councilmember Jacob Kupin helps plan the event.

"We expect a lot of people to go downtown, myself included, to celebrate the Fourth of July," Kupin said.

And then there is the after party. Tourists and locals will be hitting the restaurants and bars until the early morning hours.

Kennetha Price is with Nashville's Office of Nightlife.

"There will be a great collaboration with police, fire and EMS to make sure everyone is safe," Price said.

Metro police officials said they'll have a strong officer presence Friday night. Their message is: if you see something, say something.

They'll also be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers.

Volunteers with Red Frogs USA will be there too lending a hand to people who partied too hard. They have become a staple group here in Nashville, keeping people safe.

Police said if you hear fireworks in your neighborhood, police say don't call 911 because it ties up the emergency line. They said to call 311 instead or send the complaint via email to Hub Nashville.
