NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Fourth of July holiday weekend is here! Look for a fairly dry weekend, but increasing heat and humidity.
Before we look closer at this year's forecast, let's look back at prior weather history on July 4th. We recently had a near 100-degree temperatures on July 4, 2024 in Nashville where the high temperature reached 99°. This ranks third all-time for Nashville in hottest Fourth of July temperatures. The hottest was back in 2012 where Nashville reached 103°!

For rain, Nashville International Airport has seen measurable rain (greater than a Trace) three times on July 4th since 2020 (years: 2020, 2022, 2023). The wettest in recent memory was 2016 when Nashville received 1.52" of rain. The all-time wettest Fourth of July was in 1885 where over two inches of rain fell.

Overall, the weekend will be mostly dry in our area. Friday is the driest day, but a few stray showers or storms on Saturday & Sunday. Temperatures in the 90s, and humidity increasing.

FRIDAY
On Friday, the Fourth of July, afternoon clouds develop but no precipitation expected. Temperatures rising to the lower and middle 90s. It will feel like within 1-2 degrees of the air temperature on Friday. As the sun sets and fireworks occur, temperatures drop into the 80s and 70s.


SATURDAY
Expect more humid air on Saturday as temperatures reach the lower and middle 90s, making it feel like the upper 90s to near 100. A few isolated showers possible, but overall chance is less than 10%.
SUNDAY
Sunday has a 20% chance of a few showers and storms with the daytime heating. Temperatures still hot and feels like temperatures nearing 100°!
Next week, rain chances increase even more. A few scattered storms on Monday, but more likely by Tuesday through next Friday.
