Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department announced that an arrest had been made in connection with a deadly stabbing in the parking lot of a Madison church earlier this week.

At about 12:04 a.m. Monday, an MNPD officer with the Madison Precinct saw 44-year-old James Cane Jr. and 36-year-old Terrance Trice engaged in a physical struggle in the parking lot of the Madison First Baptist Church on Gallatin Pike South. Cane was critically injured and transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Trice fled the scene, police said.

MNPD detectives were able to recover surveillance video of Trice following the victim north along Gallatin Pike before the shooting. The motive is unclear, police added.

Trice has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with this deadly stabbing. He was also charged with a sex offender registry violation. The MNPD said that he has prior convictions for a variety of charges, including felony drug possession, domestic assault and assault. As of publication, he remains jailed on a $160,000 bond.
