NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department received the results of her autopsy.
According to an MNPD news release, 40-year-old Jared Streich has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, 46-year-old Miranda Gray, inside her apartment on Hermitage Park Drive. The MNPD has arrested Streich several times, and the couple had a history of domestic violence.
On Monday at 9:30 a.m., Streich called 911, asking for an ambulance as Gray was unresponsive. The first officer on the scene saw Gray was dead and asked Streich how long Gray had been unresponsive, but he did not answer. On Tuesday, the results of Gray's autopsy revealed that she had sustained several injuries and died as a result of strangulation, according to the MNPD.
Homicide detectives noted that Streich had violated his bond conditions Monday, which stipulated that he was supposed to stay away from the Hermitage Park Drive apartment. This bond was the result of an aggravated assault arrest in February when he allegedly threatened Gray with a knife.
Streich was arrested on Monday night for violating the bond while Gray's death was under investigation. His bond was set at $75,000 for the bond violation.
Additionally, Hermitage officers reportedly arrested Streich multiple times on domestic violence-related charges. On top of Streich's February arrest, he had also been arrested on April 29 when he allegedly pushed Gray's head into a closet door and shut a patio door on her arm. Those charges were dropped on May 1.
On July 20, Streich allegedly cut Gray's wrist with a knife inside her apartment. His bond was set at $85,000 for aggravated assault and violating bond conditions, but those charges were dropped on August 1.
Streich was also arrested on August 3 when the MNPD responded to a domestic disturbance at Gray's apartment, and Streich was found there. He was charged with violating bond conditions, and his bond was set at $2,500.
Regarding Streich's February case, Gray allegedly told a detective with the MNPD's Domestic Violence division that she was speaking with the District Attorney's Office about prosecution and was going to follow up at the Family Safety Center for an order of protection and counseling. However, the MNPD said that she declined counseling, order of protection, prosecution and shelter services in subsequent police responses.
