Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified and issued a criminal homicide warrant for a suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting on Jefferson Street earlier this week.

MNPD officers were sent to Kings Market in the 1800 block of Jefferson Street shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to respond to reports of a shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, 33-year-old Marcus Caruthers, went to the store with a woman.

The preliminary investigation indicated that at some point during the argument, Ibe allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking Caruthers in the torso. Caruthers later died from his injuries.

In a Thursday press release, the MNPD said Caruthers tried to intervene in an argument between Ibe and a woman. Additionally, a court-ordered ankle monitor that Ibe had been wearing in connection with a 2024 domestic violence case was cut off following the shooting. Officers recovered the monitor on 11th Avenue North.

Ibe's "getaway SUV" was found unoccupied on 42nd Avenue North and impounded, police added.
