Millersville Officer Fired Over Alleged Misconduct

MILLERSVILLE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to a release from the City of Millersville, a police officer has been terminated following an internal investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct involving a resident.

Michael Singleton, 32, was relieved of duty on Monday, June 23rd. He had been with the department for approximately 18 months.

The internal investigation determined that Singleton allegedly made inappropriate sexual comments to a female resident while responding to a follow-up call for service on Sunday, June 22nd.

The resident filed a formal complaint that same day, prompting Chief Stephen Hale to launch an internal investigation. Singleton was the following day and subsequently terminated.

The department has formally notified the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission and has initiated the decertification process.

“As we continue to rebuild and strengthen the Millersville Police Department, we remain focused on creating a culture rooted in accountability, integrity, and community trust,” the city said in its release.

“The action of this one officer does not reflect the hard work and dedication of other employees of the Millersville Police Department,” Chief Hale added. “We are committed to integrity, service, commitment, quality, and respect of all residents of the City of Millersville.”

The Sumner County District Attorney’s Office has requested that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) conduct an independent investigation into the matter.
