NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Detectives took a convicted burglar into custody Tuesday night amid an ongoing investigation into recent vehicle burglaries in Nashville's South and Hermitage precincts.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 22-year-old Michiah Chism was seen driving an Infiniti G37 with no hood and front-end damage on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The "unique Infiniti" reportedly matched the suspect vehicle description provided by victims in the Chatham Pointe neighborhood based on their footage.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division arrested Chism after he parked the Infiniti on Crossings Boulevard. Then, during an interview, authorities said Chism admitted to breaking into multiple vehicles in the neighborhood seeking money, as well as frequently going on burglary sprees.
Law enforcement said Chism -- who has multiple aggravated burglary and burglary convictions from 2023 -- was charged Tuesday night with two counts of felony vehicle burglary, misdemeanor vandalism, and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. However, additional charges are expected.
As of Wednesday, Oct. 22, Chism is being held in the Downtown Detention Center on a $24,000 bond, according to officials.
No additional details have been released about this incident.
