NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation is underway after a female officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department was assaulted in the Una neighborhood of South Nashville Wednesday morning.
The incident happened in the 2000 block of Old Murfreesboro Pike around 8:15 a.m.
According to Metro police, an officer was attempting to stop a vehicle when the suspect got out and ran toward Una Elementary School.
The female officer was working as school security at the school when she reportedly intercepted the suspect. The officer and suspect engaged in a physical altercation, after which both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect never made it onto school property.
No additional information was immediately released.
