Description

HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One Metro Councilmember has improvements to pedestrian infrastructure within his district on his radar.

Jordan Huffman, Metro Councilmember for District 14, said that requests for more red lights and sidewalks are on his radar as his constituents have continually requested improvements along several busy roadways.

Specifically, Huffman has pushed for red lights to be added to the following intersections:

  • Andrew Jackson Parkway and Tyler Drive
  • Andrew Jackson Parkway and Rachel Donelson Pass
  • Lebanon Pike and Hickory Hill Lane
  • Central Pike and Dockside Drive

Huffman has also advocated for the addition of sidewalks along Stewarts Ferry Pike, Dodson Chapel Road and a section of Central Pike to TriStar Hospital.

With two new developments coming to Andrew Jackson Parkway, Huffman said that he wants to build upon current infrastructure to support area growth.

Additionally, a senior living development added hundreds of new homes to Park Haven near Hickory Hill Drive; Huffman said the addition has put a strain on drivers along the roadway. The street is also home to one of the main entrances in the Bonna Neighborhood.

With Tyler Drive, Huffman said the roadway sees significant traffic in both the morning and the afternoon because it's near two schools — as of publication, the street only has a stop sign and a crossing guard.

"It's one of those things that I have to just stay on top of with NDOT and make sure that they understand that the need is there and it could be a potential safety concern," Huffman said.

Huffman has urged his constituents to provide feedback as he works for the people of District 14 and hopes to advocate for them as a Councilmember.
