NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon near the campus of Tennessee State University.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the crash took place shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, along John A. Merritt Boulevard in front of Frederick S. Humphries Hall.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a Cadillac CTS—identified as 67-year-old Kenneth Fulson—was driving northbound on 31st Avenue North when he went through a stop sign at the intersection, continued on the sidewalk, stuck a water main, and then hit the corner of a brick wall in front of Humphries Hall.
The Cadillac's speedometer reportedly showed that the vehicle was traveling at 60 mph when the crash occurred.
