SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested in Sumner County after an investigation into the sexual assaults of multiple children.

According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, Walter Lucian Lewis was indicted by a Grand Jury and taken into custody.

The investigation, which began in May, "uncovered disturbing evidence indicating Lewis has victimized multiple children," according to a post from the sheriff's office.

Deputies served Lewis with a warrant Wednesday for:

• Continuous sexual abuse of a child
• Five counts of aggravated rape of a child
• Five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor
• Especially aggravated sexual exploitation
• Aggravated sexual battery

The sheriff’s office noted, this is not just another arrest, it’s the result of a difficult investigation into the horrific abuse of multiple children.
