LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Increasing safety is a high priority for the city of La Vergne and one recent operation recently netted big results.
The La Vergne police department is seeing a decline in criminal activity—thanks to Operation Safe Streets.
The department is focused on two things to ensure community safety, safer roadways and keeping their eyes on any potential crime.
Officers targeted high-traffic areas and repeat offenders during the operation, which led to several arrests. Almost 30 people were arrested on outstanding warrants. Officers also made arrests for D.U.I and drugs. La Vergne officials say the operation highlights their commitment to public safety.
A complete list of the citations include:
- Warrant arrest attempts: 27
- Warrant arrests executed: 8
- DUI arrests: 1
- Drug-related arrests: 2
- Driving on suspended/revoked license arrests: 4
- Driving without a license citations: 2
- Traffic stops resulting in citations: 16
- Traffic stops resulting in warnings (verbal or written): 40
- Total traffic stops conducted: 51
Operation Safe Streets will continue throughout the summer as part of the department's effort to reduce crime and dangerous driving behaviors.
