WATERTOWN, Tenn. (WKRN) — A historic home that neighbors say was the backdrop for music videos like Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" has burned down.
The home was off Highway 70 in Watertown.
Wilson County investigators are working to find out what caused the fire on Monday.
Only the chimney is still standing after a fire at the century-old home in Watertown.
Watertown residents say it's been an icon in town. Breanna Rutter was driving to an appointment when she noticed the smoke on Monday afternoon.
She called 911.
"When I say huge flames, it was the first thing I saw when I went around the bend," Rutter said. "Bright orange flames billowing out of the upstairs window."
"The water difficulties we had, the hydrant was far away, so we had to shuttle water," Wilson County Emergency Management Public Information Officer Maegan Eldridge said. "With the wind, it just took off. Unfortunately, it's a major loss."
No one was hurt or at home at the time, according to investigators.
Watertown residents like Diane Haun called this loss a tragedy.
The home set the scene for music videos and movies.
"Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, a lot of people have been here," Haun said. "It's been a historic place. Everyone mentions the country music house burned! It's sad."
News 2 has learned that no one lives at the home full time, but a property manager keeps an eye on it.
