NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Gallatin woman has been arrested after allegedly shooting toward the Davidson County Sheriff's Office on the morning of New Year's Day.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said that a patrol officer with the Madison Precinct located a gray Dodge Charger matching the description of the suspect vehicle on Creekwood Drive. That vehicle was registered to 26-year-old Tonisha Harris.
Police said that Harris was interviewed "during a subsequent contact with the car in January on Fain Street." She allegedly initially told detectives that she could not remember much, but she claimed not to fire the weapon. She also claimed that she did not drive the Charger on the morning in question.
A firearm was seized from the Charger, police said, and it was later found to match the shell casing recovered from the scene. Additionally, police cited cell phone data that was recovered indicating that Harris had been in the area of the Davidson County Sheriff's Office around 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 1.
During an interview with detectives Tuesday, the MNPD said she admitted to firing a shot while intoxicated and celebrating the new year. She reportedly thought the shot was up in the air.
Harris was arrested in Clarksville Tuesday morning. She has been charged with felony reckless endangerment. As of publication, she's jailed on a $10,000 bond.
