FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — One Williamson County man has taken the lead on helping neighbors have an easier time finding local, organic foods after seeing a need in his community.
Franklin resident Daniel Craig posted to social media and asked if anyone was interested in having a directory of local, clean, organic foods. He said he had gotten the idea after talking to a friend about how healthy foods are rare to find.
More than 180 people signed up for the directory. Organic foods like sourdough bread, eggs from local chicken coops and vegetables from small gardens are just a few examples of items that will be available in the directory.
Craig said it will be like a 24/7 farmers market online and it helps get back to the root of supporting healthier foods and local businesses.
"Hundreds of years ago, food was a lot healthier," Craig said. "If we can get back to the communal aspect of helping one another and supporting the people who have this as a business or as a lifestyle, I think it would be really cool."
Craig said the website is called Earthy Eats. His next steps include reaching out to all sellers interested in providing organic foods to locals. Craig said he wants to make sure every vendor is selling clean food to keep the directory's integrity.
