FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WKRN) -- A soldier from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) died following an overseas "training accident" Saturday, according to the U.S. Army.
The military described Sgt. Terell Seales, 34, of Florence, New Jersey, as a motor transport operator (88M) assigned to the "Strike" 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division.
Officials said Seales died as a result of injuries from a "vehicle accident" on Saturday, Oct. 18, during the unit's training at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany.
“Sgt. Seales was an exceptional leader and soldier who inspired others to give their very best,” said Col. Duke Reim, commander of the 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team. “We remain in close contact with his family to provide care and any support they may need during this difficult time. We are also deeply grateful to our German Allies for their swift response and steadfast support to our soldiers.”

The military said Seales joined the Army in 2021 and then served at Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Drum, New York, before he arrived at Fort Campbell in 2024. Germany was his second deployment, preceded by a tour in Lithuania in 2023.
According to officials, not only was Seales a graduate of the Army Basic Leader Course, but he also received multiple awards and decorations, including two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.
No additional details have been released about Saturday's fatal incident, which remains under investigation.
