FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — After becoming a work zone for over a week, work is finally complete in one downtown area of Williamson County.
After working on the fourth phase of construction at the Five Points intersection, the area is finally back open for drivers.
Franklin leaders put out the news that the area reopened after finishing water and sewer improvements for the downtown area ahead of schedule. Construction was expected to take about three weeks. Franklin leaders said approximately 25,000 vehicles pass through the area daily, so drivers were highly encouraged to avoid downtown.
Crews are still working on phase five, which runs from the intersection of Adams Street and Lewisburg Avenue all the way down to Stewart Street. Phase five is set to take around two months to complete.
Franklin leaders do say crews are working extended hours to try and get construction done as quickly and safely as possible.
