Description

FENTRESS COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Fentress County Sheriff's Office's Narcotics Unit seized marijuana, methamphetamine, other drugs and drug paraphernalia from a wanted fugitive Friday morning.

Drug agents and agents with the FCSO's Fugitive Recovery unit went to a home along Round Mountain Road at 10:03 a.m. to search for Brita Lee West — an alleged fugitive with an active warrant for failure to appear in court. When authorities arrived, they found a woman matching West's description at the home. She reportedly retreated quickly into the home.

According to the FCSO, contact was made at the door and West appeared in the living room. She was taken into custody without incident.

The FCSO reportedly saw "digital scales with crystalline residue and a methamphetamine smoking apparatus in plain view." Authorities seized the following:

  • About 3.22 grams of methamphetamine
  • About 15.28 grams of marijuana
  • A small purple container with two Suboxone tablets and two Xanax pills

Though the FCSO said the defendant denied ownership of all the narcotics and drug paraphernalia at the scene, she was transported to the Fentress County Jail on multiple drug-related charges. An additional hold was placed out of Cumberland County with respect to her outstanding warrant.

“This arrest highlights the commitment of our narcotics agents and detectives who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe," FCSO Chief Deputy Hunter Fowler said. "We will continue to pursue those who bring dangerous substances into Fentress County.”
