Description
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Another medical facility is coming to Montgomery County.
This announcement comes as two new hospitals are already hoping to open in the area.
Ascension Saint Thomas is sweetening their deal for a new hospital in Montgomery County, offering up land for the county to build a new EMS building right next door.
It'll be off of Wxit 11 on I-24 in Clarksville, serving a rapidly growing area.
Right now, EMS Director Chris Proctor told News 2 the county only has one ambulance and one crew serving the Clarksville area, and that crew is working out of a fire station.
Proctor said their lack of resources near the city makes it difficult to help people in the case of multiple emergencies at the same time.
The new EMS station will allow more crews and provide two more ambulances.
"As our community grows, the need for our services grows, which [in] five years, ten years down the road, will build the station big enough to house more people, more staff, more assets in the future," Proctor said.
Proctor added the next steps are to have conversations with the Montgomery County Mayor's office about budgeting and logistics.
He said the goal is to get the money in the budget for the next fiscal year and be able to break ground after that.
