CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — After several amendments to the capital budget, the Clarksville City Council did not approve the proposed budget.
The budget failed 5-7 even though several cuts were approved and new recommendations adopted.
Some of the amendments Tuesday night included reducing airport wages, allocating money for affordable housing for seniors, transferring the property to the Community Neighborhood Services land bank/trust and potentially reducing the budget for the Clarksville Custom House Museum by over $300,000.
Some council members seemed to oppose some of the proposed major cuts. Those cuts included defunding the Frosty Morn project.

Included in the budget was a proposed 15-cent property tax rate increase and city leaders addressing neighborhood flooding.
Since the budget failed on its first reading, the next step would be adjusting and agreeing to the amendments, so the council can move forward with passing the budget.
