Description
MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Mt. Juliet residents now have the chance to walk and bike along a newly-opened pedestrian bridge.
On Sunday, Mt. Juliet Commissioner Art Giles cut the ribbon on a pedestrian bridge at Woodridge Drive. The bridge was made possible in part with support from both developer Beazer Homes and the Mt. Juliet Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
According to the city, the bridge features a walkway that's 10 feet wide and it's engineered to support a live load of 6,000 pounds. The elevated wooden boardwalk approaches on either end of the bridge can support the same amount of weight and help make the walkway compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and clear the 100-year flood elevation.
