NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Progress continues on The Boring Company's Music City Loop.
A proposed route for the 9.5-mile-long project connects the Nashville International Airport to the State Capitol and the Music City Center. An update earlier this month includes 20 planned stations and conversations about adding stops along Broadway.
Erin Zeigler with the Tennessee Department of Transportation posted to social media that on Thursday, Oct. 30 and Friday, Nov. 1, there would be blasting at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. along Rosa L. Parks Boulevard from Rev. Kelly M. Smith Way to Nelson Merry Street. TDOT could not confirm that those rolling roadblocks were involved with blasting associated with the project.
However, two construction workers at the project site told News 2 that the blasting was associated with the Music City Loop.
During the morning blasting on Thursday, several people from nearby office buildings were seen rushing outside. Many of them told News 2 they were not notified of the blasting and were in complete shock.
"We were in a meeting and it was a big boom. Everything shook, and we ran around the building to make sure everyone was okay," Seresta Pillow said. "Everyone said they're fine, so now, we come outside and ... It was a little scary, so I'm just glad everyone was okay."
News 2 reached out to the Boring Company for comment on the project, and as of publication, they have not yet responded.
