Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — It's a big day for residents in Glencliff: the community is coming together to finish the Antioch Pike mural.

The culmination of the mural came just in time for the neighborhood's big Halloween block party.

The mural has been a labor of love. The creative portion of the project is done, but tonight neighbors will finish up the last part, painting the crosswalk that connects to the mural.

According to neighbors, the mural is part of a strategy to brighten up the space while also slowing down drivers.

So far, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure said the mural is working.

Friday night, Antioch Pike will be shut down for the neighborhood block party. That will give crews a change to finish painting. This is the only road in South Nashville that shuts down for Halloween for trick-or-treating.

The closure begins at 4:30 p.m., and the block party runs from 5-9 p.m. The party will have vendors passing out treats, a DJ, and plenty of fun Halloween games.

If you still want to join as a vendor, community members are welcome to set up a table in the bike lane between McCombs and Avenal to pass out treats.
