NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A young father was arrested after his 18-month-old child was put in serious danger during a shooting south of downtown Nashville.
The shooting happened on Thursday, Aug. 8 on University Court around 8:30 p.m.
According to court documents, the baby was inches away as Nicholas Harris, 20, was shot multiple times in the chest and face.
Surveillance cameras recorded a group standing in a circle prior to the shooting with the baby being held right next to Harris. The suspect pulled out a pistol and opened fire on Harris while the baby was dropped on the sidewalk and everyone ran away, according to Metro police.
One person eventually returned to the shooting scene to retrieve the screaming child.
Harris was booked into the Metro jail Thursday and charged with child endangerment, conditional contempt and failure to appear. His bond was set at $76,000.
