NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Six teenagers have been arrested after they were found driving in two stolen vehicles with a pistol inside each car.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the teens were arrested Saturday morning after being spotted by Violent Crimes Division detectives.
The detectives reportedly spotted a stolen Hyundai Elantra driving through Antioch neighborhoods. The Hyundai was then joined by a Kia Soul briefly before the cars separated. MNPD said detectives disabled the Hyundai on Murfreesboro Pike at Bell Road and arrested the 15-year-old driver, who was armed with a pistol with an extended magazine.
Per MNPD, the Hyundai was reported stolen on Friday. The 15-year-old driving it was charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft, evading arrest, and juvenile handgun possession.
The Kia Soul was reported stolen on Thursday, police said in a release. While detectives were still in the Antioch area Saturday morning, they spotted the vehicle entering a parking lot on Murfreesboro Pike. The Soul then fled from detectives until it reached a dead end on Valor Way.
When the Soul reached the dead end, five occupants of the vehicle ran off, police said. All five were subsequently apprehended, including a 14-year-old who police said was a "persistent juvenile offender for vehicle and robbery related crimes."
Four of the teens, including three 16-year-olds and the 14-year-old, were charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft and evading arrest. One 16-year-old was armed with a pistol at the time of her arrest. She was also charged with juvenile handgun possession.
One 18-year-old was also apprehended by an MNPD Canine Unit. He was charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. As of the afternoon Oct. 18, he remains jailed on a $35,000 bond.
