COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) — One person was injured when they were shot by an officer in Columbia early Tuesday morning.
The Columbia Police Department reported the shooting was a "moving situation" in between the 1500 and 1700 block of Nashville Highway around 2 a.m.
The shooting victim was shot by a Columbia officer then taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to Columbia police. Their condition was not immediately released.
It is not known if any officers were injured in the incident.
The shooting prompted a closure of Nashville Highway between Carters Creek and West Burt Drive but the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to assist with the investigation.
No additional information was immediately released.
