NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting sobriety checkpoints across Middle Tennessee for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
On July 3, the THP will start the weekend off by having a sobriety checkpoint:
- In Carroll County along U.S. 79 north of Enon Church Road
On July 4, the THP will have sobriety checkpoints:
- In Wilson County along U.S. 70 at Brookhollow Drive
- In Cumberland County along U.S. 127N at Rinnie Firehall
- In DeKalb County along U.S. 70 East of Smithville .10 mile east of mile marker 22 (Sparta Pike)
- In Giles County along U.S. Highway 431 at mile marker 14
- In Wayne County along State Route 13 North at the U.S. 64 underpass
- In Decatur County both along State Route 100 at mile marker 15 and along State Route 69 at mile marker 33 (Cub Creek)
On July 5, the THP will continue to have sobriety checkpoints:
- In Putnam County along U.S. 70 at Upperman High School
- In DeKalb County at 36134 Nashville Highway
- In Lewis County along U.S. Highway 412 .2 miles east of mile marker 1
- In Benton County along U.S. 70 at Sandy Point Church Road
In addition to the THP's sobriety checkpoints, the THP will work with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and the Dickson County Sheriff's Office for a campaign called "Safe on Seventy." The joint effort is meant to combat everything from impaired driving to speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving and other high-risk driving behaviors.
As a result of the campaign, there will be greater traffic enforcement along U.S. Highway 70 across Tennessee.
