DONELSON, Tenn. (WKRN) — Fierce winds tore through a Donelson neighborhood Thursday morning, resulting in damage.
The homeowner told News 2 the destruction came as a shock to her and her husband.
"We were watching TV this morning and heard a sound, but we have the airport right near us and hear airplane sounds quite often, so we didn't think anything of it," said Beverly Nelson.
However, Nelson said when she went outside she discovered her shed had been completely destroyed.
"We knew it was raining, that's all we knew, and we came outside, we were flabbergasted," expressed Nelson as she stood near the shed.
The Nelsons told News 2 they will be OK, but are urging folks to take the weather seriously and to not take anything for granted.
According to the News 2 Weather Authority team, a Heat Advisory will remain in effect across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky until 7 p.m. Friday.
A Marginal Risk, level 1 out of 5, is forecasted to affect areas east of I-65 on Friday, June 27. The biggest storm threats will be gusty winds and heavy rain.
