NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — People living in The Nations are concerned about trash piling up in their neighborhood.
One resident told News 2 a dumpster is constantly overflowing, attracting rodents and bad smells.
Katie Janiga has lived near 54th Avenue North and California Avenue for more than eight years. Recently, new townhomes were built behind her house, and now she says the nearby dumpster is always overflowing.
According to Janiga, the trash sits on the ground for weeks and rats and skunks crawl around the dumpster. She said she worries it's becoming a "huge health hazard."
She has reportedly contacted Metro about the issue and they directed her to the trash company labeled on the dumpster, J & J Services, which wasn't able to give her an answer.
Janiga said a landlord of the townhomes recently got someone to clean the dumpster, but it only took a few days for the trash to build back up.
"I'm really not trying to be difficult; it's just a health hazard. With the really high temperatures and the heavy rain, it's getting quite gross rather quickly," Janiga expressed.
News 2 has reached out to J & J Services and the listing agent for the property, but we have yet to hear back.
