NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An 18-year-old has been arrested and faces a slew of felony charges for his connection to a shooting that left two people injured at a Nashville dog park earlier this month.

The shooting took place at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 4 at the Riverside Dog Park in the 100 block of 1st Avenue South.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, a 55-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were shot and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

One of the victims allegedly told detectives that he was in the park smoking when a group of young men approached him and attempted to rob him of his marijuana.

There was a brief scuffle and the suspects shot the man five times in the chest, according to an arrest report.

Police said the park was "populated by multiple homeless individuals at the time of the shooting."
