GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — A suspect has been taken into custody after a 65-year-old man was found dead in a Gallatin home Saturday morning, authorities said.
The Gallatin Police Department said officers were sent to the 100 block of West Hite Street at approximately 2:40 a.m. to respond to reports of a "possible homicide."
When law enforcement arrived to the home, they reportedly found 65-year-old Stephen Thomas deceased. During the investigation, detectives said they determined that Thomas and the suspect were acquaintances.
The suspect—identified as 29-year-old Jovanny Daniel Ruiz— has since been taken into custody, officials said.
Ruiz was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
"This remains an active and ongoing investigation," the Gallatin Police Department wrote in a Saturday press release about the incident.
No additional details were released. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 615-452-1313.
