SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News): A new dining option is on the way for downtown Springfield. On 7th Avenue between Main Street and Willow, a building once home to the Public House is undergoing a complete renovation. The Public House relocated up Main Street some time ago, and now its former location is being transformed into Springfield’s first wood-fired pizza restaurant and cocktail bar.

Smokey Barn News was given an exclusive tour of the site as construction crews worked inside. Renovations are extensive, and from what we observed, no corners are being cut in preparing the space for its next chapter. Although an official opening date has not yet been announced, the owners report that the project is progressing steadily.

“The Colt Tavern will be Springfield’s first wood-fired pizza restaurant and cocktail bar,” said company spokesperson Robert Longhurst. “Expect fresh salads, wood-fired pizzas with local ingredients paired with a creative wine list, craft cocktails, and cold beer. Opening announcements soon. Family owned and operated by your neighbors.”
