SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nearly two years after breaking ground, the Spring Hill Police Department is ready to open doors to a new headquarters.
The department has operated out of two separate buildings since 2012. They'll be united under one roof at a 60,000 square-foot facility at 800 Hathaway Boulevard.
Previously, the department operated out of City Hall's basement. Later, the Criminal Investigations division, the office of the Chief of Police and patrol moved to a space rented out by the city. Evidence training, records and the IT department stayed in City Hall.
The new facility will house every division and include a room for training defensive tactics. An area for hosting classes, a crime scene processing area, a decontamination room and more will be featured within the new space.
Among the new technology in the building, the headquarters will house a de-escalation simulator training room where officers can train in different virtual environmental scenarios. a community room will also double as a courtroom for city court.
Spring Hill residents can go to one place for all services, including the processing of fingerprints and safe medication disposal.
There will be an official ribbon cutting for the new headquarters at the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
