SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — New commercial properties could soon come to Spring Hill.
The Spring Hill Board of Mayor & Aldermen voted in favor of a rezoning that would bring new commercial properties to a 10-acre stretch of Port Royal Road directly across from the site of the Community Baptist Church.
The area is already zoned for apartments, but it's proposed to be commercial. The rezoning not only mirrors the zoning of other properties along the roadway, but it also aligns with the city's comprehensive plan for moderate-density uses. There's also still potential for multi-family residences in the area.
Vincent Faqua said that for the rezoning to move forward, the Board of Mayor & Aldermen said they would need to see a site plan soon.
"Typically, for me to vote in favor of a rezone, I like to see a site plan," Faqua said at Monday night's meeting. "Reason being is I want to see what the ultimate use for the property is and make sure that it ties into the development that's around it."
The rezoning needs to pass two more readings before the roadway would see the new commercial properties in the area.
