SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — Leaders cut the ribbon on the new headquarters for the Spring Hill Police Department Tuesday.
The new 60,000 square-foot building on Hathaway Boulevard allows community members to take care of everything under one roof. The SHPD operated under two separate buildings since 2012, but the new building has been designed to serve the community for the next 50 years.
Spring Hill Police Chief Don Brite said the building would provide the SHPD with more space and allow officers the chance to train.
"We've slowly been moving in this whole past week," Brite said. "All the officers — you can tell the excitement they have being able to move into here. They’re very excited, as we all are."
Newly-elected Spring Hill Mayor Matt Fitterer also recognized the Lund family who was in attendance at Tuesday's ribbon cutting. The plot of land where the new building sits was once their family home.
"They were very intentional in their sale and wanted to ensure that it was going to be something beneficial to the community and we're very thankful for those efforts that they made,” Fitterer told News 2.
