MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) -- An investigation is underway following a deadly bicycle crash in Murfreesboro Sunday night.

According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.

Based on the preliminary investigation, authorities said a blue Nissan Rogue was traveling eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Carver Avenue when a bicyclist tried to cross the road and entered the SUV's path, resulting in the collision.

No additional details have been released about this ongoing investigation, including the identity of the bicyclist who died from injuries sustained in the crash.
