NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One resident in southeast Nashville has spoken out about dumping near area roadways.
Todd Anderson, who has lived near Percy Priest Lake for about 27 years, said he had never seen dumping of this magnitude near his home. He told News 2 that he saw landscaping trucks drop off the debris near the Anderson Road recreation area and another pile on Couchville Pike, but never saw any trucks return to pick it up.
Anderson added that the logs were in the lanes of traffic and potentially created a road hazard. Although illegal dumping had not been a major issue previously, Anderson said he had started seeing it repeatedly. He added that he did not want people to dump debris out of sheer convenience.
"What you see a lot of is in Nashville nowadays is just dumping of all kinds — mattresses, chairs — you just never know what you might see on the side of the road," Anderson said. "We just got a bunch of lazy people anymore that don't want to do what's right."
HubNashville responded to Anderson's request and he said the agency had been cooperative. He said the city is working to find out the parties responsible for the dumping and plan to remove the debris within the next few days.
