DONELSON, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating a string of vehicle break-ins that occurred Wednesday morning at four hotels off Stewarts Ferry Pike.
At least 22 vehicles were burglarized at just one hotel, according to one victim of the crime. In fact, one of those vehicles belonged to an out-of-town deputy sheriff. A manager at a local Days Inn told News 2 the deputy was visiting from South Carolina.
Jeffrey Tome, a man visiting Nashville to help his brother on life support, stated the suspects busted out a window and stole hundreds of dollars from the glove compartment.
"My brother is on life support in Nashville, so I wanted to stay in Nashville close to him, and this was the closest thing to him," said Tome. "We are all devastated to see our cars with broken windows."
Tome told News 2 that at least 21 other vehicles were burglarized at the hotel, but the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said they only responded to 12 reported break-ins.
After discovering that approximately $600 cash was missing from his vehicle, Tome said he found the glass of his window scattered in the grass.
"They threw my window over here in the grass behind me, and the only car that didn't get touched was an Audi, but everybody else's car got hit. There was an Escalade that got their windows smashed, and there were 22 cars at this hotel that got hit," detailed Tome.
According to the MNPD, a couple victims agreed to have their vehicles dust for prints, but no arrests have been made.
