MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A job posting for Mt. Juliet's next information technology director is now online after two employees from that department were fired amid an ongoing investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, a city spokesperson confirmed to News 2 that Mt. Juliet had "separated employment" with IT Director Travis Taylor and another employee from the IT department, whose identity has not been released.
Mt. Juliet officials posted in August 2023 that Taylor had worked for the city for 15 years. Then, in July 2025, he was praised for his hard work to make sure Mt. Juliet operates smoothly.
The TBI told News 2 that District Attorney General Jason Lawson asked the agency to investigate allegations involving these employees.
News 2 has worked to learn more about what led to the termination of Taylor and the other IT employee, but much of it remains under wraps. We reached out to the mayor of Mt. Juliet and all four city commissioners for more information about the situation.
In a statement, District 3 Commissioner Scott Hefner wrote, “It’s my understanding from speaking with our city manager and others, that TBI is investigating two city employees for alleged criminal activities, in addition to HR's review of violations of personal standards. I'm confident all details will be fully disclosed for the sake of transparency.”
Meanwhile, District 4 Commissioner Jennifer Milele said she doesn't know any details and she's waiting on the investigation.
The next Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27. One commissioner expects to hear public comments on this topic.
