NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Residents in a Nashville neighborhood say a person is going door-to-door, asking for donations for a football team, and they're claiming it's all a scam.
This person is going up to people's front doors, telling people he's raising money for the football team at Pearl-Cohn High School, but the school tells News 2 they never fundraise through door-knocking or cash donations.
One East Nashville resident, Austin Conrad, said it happened to him on Wednesday.
He said not only did the person pretend to be a high school football player, but he also claimed to be committed to Louisiana Tech to play football.
However, Conrad told News 2 the interaction felt very "sketchy," and he ended up not giving the man money. But he wants his neighbors to be on the lookout.
"It just makes you wonder when people come up like that like are they real, are they not real? For us, kind of like a security thing, my son was just going to open the door because he didn't know any better. You never know who or what it is," Conrad said.
Pearl-Cohn administrators are asking people to report these incidents to the school.
Metro Police say to report this as suspicious activity, and then they can get a patrol officer to investigate.
