SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nissan's Smyrna plant will add a new vehicle to their production line.
Production on the 2026 Infiniti QX60 has started, meaning that four vehicles are produced at the plant: the Infiniti QX60, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Rogue.
Nissan Smyrna's Vice President of Manufacturing, Brian Crockett, said that with the addition, the plant will produce more than 350,000 vehicles this year. There's also excitement of another vehicle added to production.
"Launching any vehicle gives affirmation to the team members that are working on this facility," Crockett said. "For the trust and confidence that they have in us to produce products for them, for our customers, is extremely impactful."
According to Nissan, the company has invested more than $8 billion dollars in the Smyrna plant, and the plant has created numerous jobs.
"We do anticipate maintaining our two-shift operations here in Smyrna," Crockett said.
Additionally, Nissan will soon make a formal announcement about their next production model at the plant.
"Next year, we have another model called QX65 coming in — exciting," Vice President of Infiniti Americas, Tiago Castro, said. "There's more to come, so I think the message is: the future is very bright. We're going to continue to grow and we count on our team in Tennessee to grow with us."
