MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man and woman from Murfreesboro were taken into custody after officers pulled over a speeding vehicle in Mt. Juliet over the weekend.

According to a social media post from the Mt. Juliet Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle along Golden Bear Gateway on Saturday, June 14.

Authorities reported two people—identified as a 40-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man from Murfreesboro—were taken into custody after drugs were found inside the vehicle.

The man was reportedly charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Meanwhile, the woman was taken into custody for two violation of probation warrants and one capias out of Montgomery County.

"Our officers remain committed to confronting those who bring crime into our community—so our residents don’t have to. By staying focused on those who threaten the safety of Mt. Juliet, we help ensure our city continues to be a safe place where families can thrive and the community feels secure," the MJPD wrote on social media.

The arrests come just a day after officers said they discovered a gun and "dangerous drugs" during a traffic stop on Mt. Juliet Road near I-40. In that incident, a 34-year-old woman was taken into custody and charged with criminal impersonation, driving on a revoked license, possession of a Schedule III & VI drugs, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

No additional details have been released about Saturday’s incident, including the identities of those who were arrested.
