NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville After Zone Alliance is a program that promotes the importance of after-school programs for youth, and they believe Music City needs more programming. They're working to make it happen.

The Nashville After Zone Alliance is hosting Lights On Afterschool in Antioch, Old Hickory, East Nashville and several other areas throughout Music City. Organizers will highlight different things at each location with the goal of showing the importance of after-school programs for student development.

NAZA is a program under the Nashville Public Library. NPL spokesperson Andrea Fanta said the events shine a light about how much out-of-school time matters in Nashville. Fanta said Nashville is a city that embraces young people and propels their ambition.

“We’re passionate about how curious they are, how talented they are and we want to work with families and young people to open up pathways for college and workforce and to achieve dreams and their ambitions,” Fanta said.

NAZA is always looking to teach and touch more families, Fanta said, and they’re proud to have a network of funded, quality out-of-school program providers that wrap their arms around the future generation in Nashville.

Next week's event will be at Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church. The theme will feature activities focused on science, technology, engineering, arts and math. It will be open to families and children of all ages.
