NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In the wake of Charlie Kirk's murder, several employees across Middle Tennessee, including educators, a dispatcher, and now a Nashville Fire Department employee, have been placed on leave following social media posts related to his death.

Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative influencer, was shot and killed at a Utah Valley University event on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The suspect—identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson—has since been taken into custody.

Days after the incident, the Nashville Fire Department released a statement, sharing that an NFD employee has been placed on paid administrative leave after leadership was made aware of a social media post.

The department shared the following statement with News 2:

Nashville Fire Department (NFD) leadership is aware of a social media post made by one of our personnel. In accordance with Civil Service Rules, the employee has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal fact-finding process. While this review is underway, we will not be providing any additional information in relation to this ongoing matter.

It is important to emphasize that the personnel of Nashville Fire Department remain committed to our mission of delivering high-quality fire, medical, and rescue emergency response, as well as community support services.
