GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A business on wheels was set off track after someone broke in; now, the owner is wondering if this was a targeted attack and who could be responsible.

NashBowls Acai food truck owner Kelly Walsh woke up to find her business trashed, money stolen, and food taken last weekend.

“I just feel so like scared and just freaked out that someone was there,” Walsh told News 2.

She has served fresh acai bowls since 2021, in what started as a hobby is now a full-time business on wheels.

“There are so many different events that we do, and getting to meet so many different people, we do like CMA fest,” Walsh said.

She puts in a lot of time and money, recently seeing an increase in daily costs.

“The cost of fruit is constantly changing,” she said. “Like one summer, a case of strawberries was $3.99, the next they were $8.99.”

That just added another layer of emotions after she woke up to her food truck being trashed.

“They had taken a coffee that was in my cupholder from the day before, which was like melted ice, and they poured it all over my seat,” she recalled.

In addition, all of her cash in the safe and tip jar was gone.

“The whole register was like, ripped apart and sorted,” Walsh said. “My friend had made me my first dollar sold sign, and they shattered that and took the money out of it.”

Broken glass littered the floor, but whoever broke in also stole food.

“They had dumped fruit, like a case of strawberries,” she said. “They took like yogurt out. They just went through every inch of it.”

Walsh checked with neighbors, and on their cameras, they allegedly saw a person walk up to her house, but it did not look like they had a car.

She added she is disappointed in the police investigation so far.

“They kind of just talked about it like it was so normal,” she said. “I wish that they just were like, we're sorry, and were more empathetic and more motivated to figure out who did this.”

Since this scare, she is worried it could happen again.

“Constantly checking my mirrors, was I targeted? Did someone follow me? Like, did they realize this young girl was driving?” Walsh said.

She has bought more cameras for inside her truck.

“One of my friends had their food truck trailer stolen,” she said. “And luckily they found it. But, just for all the small business owners, like they get it. It's just a lot of like hard work. So when someone targets you, it's just super like defeating and upsetting.”

She is finding ways to limit cash while on the job, but she has a message for her intruder.

“I wish they just didn't make such a mess,” she said. “I wish they just asked if they needed food.”

The Goodlettsville Police Department said there have been 36 reported vehicle break-ins this year, which averages about one break-in a week.
