MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Law enforcement tracked down a stolen sports car and took two wanted men into custody Saturday as a result of Mt. Juliet's license plate recognition program.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, the Guardian Shield LPR system detected a 2025 Ford Mustang — which was reported stolen from Nashville on July 3 and suspected to be involved in other thefts — entering and exiting near Central Pike at the city limits on Saturday, July 12.

Authorities said an officer in the area quickly found the vehicle as it left the city limits and guided members of the Metro Nashville Police Department to its location.

Police said they followed the car into Hermitage and safely apprehended the suspects after they stopped at the 7-Eleven gas station on Lebanon Road at Andrew Jackson Parkway.

According to officials, a 19-year-old Nashville man who was wanted in Sumner County for failing to appear on a felony theft charge, and a 21-year-old Mount Pleasant man who was wanted in Wilson County for failing to appear on a suspended license charge, were taken into custody. In addition, law enforcement reportedly discovered marijuana inside the vehicle.

MNPD's Hermitage Precinct shared MJPD's post, saying, "Collaboration makes both cities safer!"

No additional details have been released about this incident, including the identities of the two men who were arrested.
