MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Lebanon man wanted out of three Middle Tennessee counties was arrested following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department said an officer recognized a driver traveling along Interstate 40 East from a previous encounter and knew her license was not valid. Once the officer confirmed that the license was still invalid, they conducted a traffic stop.

A further investigation revealed that the 42-year-old Lebanon man was wanted out of Wilson County for failure to appear on meth and marijuana possession charges, Sumner County for failure to appear and driving on a revoked license — as well as leaving the scene of a crash — and Davidson County for failure to be booked on a driving and revoked license charge.

Police said that while the man was handcuffed during the stop, the man allegedly tried to get rid of an item by "shaking it loose from his shorts and trying to destroy it." Mt. Juliet officers were able to recover most of the substance, which was reportedly identified as fentanyl.

An additional search of both the person and the vehicle revealed additional paraphernalia related to fentanyl use. The man was arrested and charged with fentanyl possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
