Description
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has been found guilty of multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with a deadly home invasion that happened in West Nashville more than four years ago.
On March 11, 2021, the Metro Nashville Police Department reported that 23-year-old Quiondre Charles Benson was fatally shot during an apparent home invasion at his residence on Alameda Street. A man — later identified as Lenoris Johnson — forced his way into an apartment, shot Benson and struck a woman in the face before fleeing.
Though Benson was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, investigators said he died shortly after arriving.
Johnson was arrested a few days later. A warrant obtained by News 2 alleged that Johnson had parked a few houses down before making his way into the apartment. A witness told authorities that he forced his way through the front door; police said that jealousy had been a motive, adding that Johnson knew the woman in the apartment.
On Wednesday, the Nashville District Attorney's office reported that Johnson was found guilty of first-degree felony murder, aggravated assault resulting in death, especially aggravated burglary, employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
The Nashville District Attorney's office added that Benson's grandmother, who helped raise Benson, was pleased with the verdict.
Johnson will be sentenced in September.
