NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A portion of Briley Parkway is closed Sunday afternoon due to a fatal crash in Davidson County, officials said.

A Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesperson announced at 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 that Briley Parkway was blocked in both directions at East Thompson Lane and Southlake Drive due to a crash.

However, according to TDOT's SmartWay map, the multi-vehicle crash reported at 2:47 p.m. on State Route 155 -- which is listed as Thompson Lane rather than Briley Parkway at that location -- has led to the closure of the eastbound lanes, but not the westbound lanes, near Mashburn Road.

The Metro Nashville Police Department told News 2 that one person was dead at the scene of the Briley Parkway crash.

"A crash that resulted in a fatality is under investigation on Briley Parkway at E. Thompson Lane," MNPD posted on social media platform X at 4:15 p.m. "TDOT is assisting with road closures. Please avoid the area and find alternate routes."

No additional details have been released about this incident.
